Maria and the workers

"What does the woman (Maria) represent to the workers underground?"

After being underground for so long, when Maria speaks of a mediator it gives all of the workers hope. She is religious and is motivational, trying to let them have something they need to look forward to, so they can get their minds off of their terrible lives.

    I wish that I knew what the subject was on. The only thing i knew was that it was about Maria and the Workers. But very good!
